If he manage to go south and somehow join up/be accepted by NK/Talamati, it might be what they need to finally become territorial.

It's clear that as solo males or duos it's impossible, but as a 3 prime males coalition, suddenly they have a chance.
I have a question? Why is he called Skorro male lion again? He is son of male lion use to call buddy. I wonder where he has been.

Technically he is the skorro breakaway male he was born in the skorro pride but he and a few others broke away creating the skorro breakaway pride

This has just made my day. I kept having a weird thought about how great it’d be for him to return as I wanted him to be with Khanya and NK from the start, it obviously wasn’t looking great when he disappeared for months. Let’s hope they somehow, someway meet up and join forces!

It would be a dream if he somehow gets in with bboy nk and khanya

The skorro pride and the matimbas lineage is a weird one. It's the very recent version of sweet home alabama. Then again many prides are like "sweet home alabama" lmfaoz

Would not really trust this as much as some guide in the North is confused with so many males around, they have confused other males for others there is this time (last 2 weeks more or less) when they confused the Kambula Males with the Nkuhuma Males (the 2 in Kruger) and they thought Nkuhuma Males comeback and mated with the Nkuhumas. Also the last sighting of Southern Avoca and Kruger is they are near the border to Kruger, East of the Northern Sabi Sands. Also 2 Kambulas K4 and K6 is mating with 2 Nkuhumas on Nov. 8 so maybe they misidentify them and K3 is with the rest of the Nkuhumas also on Nov. 8. It is not possible for South Avoca and Kruger to mate with the Nkuhumas as the 4 adult female (mating female) is with the Kambulas and the other 3 females are not yet still at that age.

Is it me, or does that look like a little bit of a bump.. or just a good meal.  Othawa girls will have similar issues to Tsalala.

Wow, it's great to know that this guy is still around, I still have doubts as to whether he would be accepted by the Nkuhuma/khanya duo. Who knows, sabisands is full of nomadic males in need of partners.

Doesn't look pregnant yet, but that doesn't mean she isn't. It will be difficult (especially with the way the Ximungwes have been recently), but they should have a slightly easier time than Tsalala.

Unless they come together to roar and patrol as 4 constantly, it's extremely unlikely this current "takeover" will work out.

K5 and K6 were just wandering somewhere and K5 got injured again. Hard to see him becoming fully territorial atm after taking beating after beating.

As things stand right now they may move randomly as smaller groups again or as the 4 of them, or get chased off by one of the duos visiting the North.

I hope they come together as a strong unit soon, I'm of the believe that currently, a big coalition may be what some areas in SS needs to get real stability, more males may abandon prides easier, but unlike duos, can also spend more time with everybody.

I think 3/4 of them are ready, K5 seems to be the outlier. The fact that he keeps getting beat up probably hasn't helped. Hopefully he's learned a lesson from this last time. But as you said, they need to start roaring together, patrolling, scent-marking, etc.

Yes some stability is very much needed. I think this must be why the WildEarth guides want the Kambulas to settle here. They know that they're not the best option for the Nkuhumas, genetically speaking, but there's no point in high genetic diversity if the cubs don't make it due to lack of stability.

That’s my only problem lol the avoca girls not that bad but the two Birmingham daughters that’ll be three generations of Birmingham pride blood in a row but these boys should be able to bring much much needed stability to the north and they mate with these 4 girls and 2 years they’ll have 3 more females to mate with plus imbalis… also hoping the othawa girls keep the plains camp males in the west

RE: Lions of Sabi Sands - Mwk85 - 11-13-2024

While it would be beneficial for the young lioness to be able to join her mother's old pride, I'm definitely concerned as to how an encounter would play out. Obviously the young male has no chance in that scenario (joining the Nkuhumas), but if he stays in the area it may present an opportunity for him to meet up with the Southern Black Dam male, if he's still in the general area.

RE: Lions of Sabi Sands - KM600 - 11-13-2024

I don’t think it’s too far fetched to say they did mate with 2 Nkuhuma lionesses, for all we know it was only brief. I’d hope guides would be able to differentiate between them and the Kambula males because of the massive difference in age, but such mistakes have happened before.
