RE: Lions of Sabi Sands - Tr1x24 - 11-02-2024 @sunless such a terrible news, this area continues to be quite unstable for all lion inhabitants. Is it 1/3 of lionesses seen yesterday with Mantimahles? RE: Lions of Sabi Sands - sunless - 11-02-2024 (11-02-2024, 07:49 PM)Tr1x24 Wrote: @sunless such a terrible news, this area continues to be quite unstable for all lion inhabitants. Yes and from the conclusion of Cedric it seems like the 1/2 young lioness with the 1 older female yesterday mating with the Mantimahle Sons. Seems like their desire for mating have been the reason to the death, because yesterday the 3 Imbalis are mating with the Mantimahle Sons according to Cedric or James, this female seems to be following a Male (do not know if its the Kambulas or Mantimahle because the Kambulas is also in Djuma this morning) but this morning the 2Mantimahle Sons chased the Nkuhuma Pride in Torchwood away from their kill and when the Nkuhuma Pride regroup at Djuma they seem to found the Imbali lioness and mauled her, do not really know if the 1 or 2 Kambulas took part in the mauling but they are with the 8 Nkhumas right now. RE: Lions of Sabi Sands - sunless - 11-02-2024 According to Cedric the whole Nkuhuma Pride is in Djuma with 1 or 2 Kambulas, seems like the Kambulas are tolerating the Young Nkuhuma Male. I think whiskers dont match. Do not really know but it is 1 of the 2 young Imbali lioness from yesterday as the older lioness with them has the distinct scar nose. RE: Lions of Sabi Sands - Ngonya - 11-02-2024 What a awful moment to be a lion in the north... Thats what the lack of strong dominant males bring: pure chaos. Even with strong dominant males things can be chaotic as it sometimes is in the west with PCM or south with the lionesses dominated by Gijima killing each other months ago, but without dominants, things get even worse. There is no replacement for the losses... Just death and death. You see the pride that is thriving the most at northern Sabi Sand is Torchwood, that is barely there tbh. But still, they are undercontrol of the strongest coalition in the area... Plenty of subs growing bigger and bigger and lionesses biggest problem is having so many mouths to feed. Risk to say the worst thing to happen in the north recently were the Kambulas ousting the BDMs. No matter how weak people claim the two were, during their brief control they gave enough attention and security for the Nkuhuma pride to thrive... (that iirc ofc, let me know if im wrong) RE: Lions of Sabi Sands - MrLoesoe - 11-02-2024 So the two Mantimahle males first chased away Kambulas from Imbali females and now they also chase away Nkuhuma's from a kill? (Where the Kambula males may or may not have been present during the chase of the latter, we do not know.) These males are really pushing it... despite already controlling a pride (Torchwood) that, indeed, barely ventures into northern Sabi Sands. Well, maybe they can be the ones to bring some stability to the north, but yeah, they'll have to control Torchwood + Imbali females + Nkuhuma's, that's probably too much. Or Nkuhuma's will have to reposition more to the south with the Kambula males, but don't see that happening.. According to the guides and told to Cedric it's the Nkuhumas that is on the kill on Torchwood then the Mantimahle Sons chased the Nkuhumas off the kill so the Kambulas is not there, also 1 or 2 Kambulas is in Djuma in the morning not in Torchwood. Seems like the NK regroup and joined the Kambulas in Djuma. Few post before theres pictures of Torchwood pride and their offsprings. There were 4 Imbali breakaways, so there was a lioness absent. It might have been that she was more reluctant to approach the Mantimahtle males, and was keeping her distance but also following her sisters and mother/aunt, then the Nkuhumas caught her when she was on her own. My first thought was that the Nkuhumas and Imbalis had clashed (rather than males killing a lioness), as Cedric said the Imbalis were in the heart of Nkuhuma territory. Very sad to see another of S8's offspring gone, they've really not had good luck. Hopefully the remaining Imbali breakaways stick more to old Talamati territory and stay away from the Nkuhumas. Despite everything that's happened to them they're still a formidable pride. I really want the Kambulas to beat them over dominance for the Nkuhuma pride, exactly so this doesn't happen. Even though we were just talking about how intimidating and dangerous this duo is, it would be better if more prides didn't get abandoned, and some other males stepped up, instead of the same duos jumping from pride to pride every couple of years. RE: Lions of Sabi Sands - Mapokser - 11-02-2024 If Mantimahle try to take over the Imbali and NK prides, Kambulas will likely move off south again. Dunno if I'd bet they are the most intimidating males, we know very little about them and haven't seen them interacting with other dominant duos. We all thought PCM were "invincible", very scary, charging at anything, but once they actually met a strong dominant duo, it was a normal evenly matched clash, instead of them steamrolling over the competition like they did to Nhenha & NK, or the many nomads they met. I think Gijimas are the boldest of all these guys and Ndhzengas/PCM not far behind, only difference is that Gijimas and Ndhzengas aren't very big with huge manes so it doesn't look like they could steamroll other duos, catch one and "easily" kill them, meanwhile PCM and Mantimahle look so impressive that if they catch a rival, it gives the impression that they'd more easily inflict severe damage. Still you never know, at their age Kambulas can potentially switch to fully territorial any time soon, if their Majingilane genes kicks in, 4v2, they can end up killing a Mantimahle or PCM who would still believe they can still chase them off. They have chased Mantimahle 2v1 already, as well as Kruger male, and even Red Road sort of "1v1". Against 2 is a complete different story since they have the potential to kill a Kambula, while a lone male basically can't, but it'd still be 4v2, three 6yo and a 5.5yo who's more dominant than two of the 6yo. I'd like to see how the Kambulas would do as pride males with cubs, hopefully good, because a big coalition might be what some territories and prides need, enough males to spend time with all prides. Yea, my point for "most intimidating" was only based of looks, obviously we have very little info how strong 2 Mantimahles are in serious clash situations. |
