"I was there at the time. Mapogo (often called Satan) advanced on the 4 young Southern lions in battle formation. When the 4 continued their advance, Mapogo’s 2 brothers peeled off and dashed away. Mapogo continued into battle on his own. two distracted him from the front while two moved in from the sides. In the first battle they broke his back / spine and severely injured him. The 5 of them settled down and they basically ignored him while he could not struggle to his feet and they waited while he lost strength. Then they got up at leisure, moved into battle positions and once again savaged his lower back, roles him over and emasculated him and contemptuously left him to die. He died a few hours later.
His two brothers were last seen heading at speed in the direction of Londolosi and are not likely to return."

As I mentioned here: https://wildfact.com/forum/topic-the-mighty-mapogos?pid=83917#pid83917 there are serious reasons for not considering this as a credible source of information.

Some people want to "prove" by any means that Mr. T was actually the aggressor in his last fight, but the only genuine report about the first part of the fight, issued by the Ulusaba rangers, says the contrary: Mr. T was chased by the Selatis. End of story!

I think some guys wanted to take that opportunity to promote themselves, as Greg Posthumus who claimed that he buried Mr. T without providing any evidence. I'm afraid that this is also the case with John Pearse, who made public his testimony in a comment under a blog article where in fact everyone can post everything. (About Greg Posthumus we at least know that he met the Mapogos, while the other guy...)

PS It's good to remember: "There were reports of lions calling to the south so we went in search of fresh tracks. We stopped to listen, south of Skwenga dam and heard roars and growling coming from just beyond our vision in the mist. As we turned the corner, we saw four lions running down the road away from us. We quickly realised that it was three of the Southern males pursuing one of the Mapogos! They crossed the drainage line feeding Skwenga dam and a within a hundred meters the males had caught up with the Mapogo.
We saw that it was the male with the deep cut on his right nostril. What happened next was absolutely incredible, the Mapogo turned to face his aggressors."
