As far as I know, both were last seen with the Mhangenis around 13th May. Eventhough we can’t follow all their movements, I don’t think it’s crazy to say that it may have really been their last sighting with them as they’ve spent a lot of time with the Nkuhuma Pride and when they have returned to the West it’s been to the Ximhungwe Pride. Start of June Tumbela was following Mhangenis and I believe Nkuhuma stole a buffalo kill so PCMs for sure weren’t around then.

I think all that mess and situation in the north is sorting itself out a bit.

As we speculated already and by the looks of it, PCMs wont overtake whole north (for now atleast), only south western part of it (EP, Arathusa, Simbambili) as NKs already moved in those areas under them. 

Far southern reaches of their territory will prob be abandon, or rarely visited (southern Western sector/ Singita/Londolozi), with posibility that they abandon Mhangenis there in favor of new pride NKs in the north.

In the rest of north (central onwards), looks like Kambulas settled there, as that area is free from territorial males, so they are looking pretty comfortable there.

BDMs are out, as orange eyed male returned to Thornybush.

Mohawk and Talamati male might still hang around NKs when PCMs are west, but I expect them to give up eventually, especially when NKs give birth to PCMs cubs.

So we finally might have some stability in the area.

PCM have seen at the extreme south of the Western Sector ( Savanna ) at least twice in the previous weeks, same for Ximhungwe who were almost never in Savanna before, maybe they saw the lack of Manghenis and expanded, putting pressure on Othawas who were often seen in Savanna.

Tbf Londolozi is massive so it’s not all bad. I also doubt PCMs are deep in Londolozi, they prolly just on the boundary whereas Khanya and Mohawk might be deep into Londolozi. Definitely a lot of room for everyone to avoid each other.

Where did the 2 Mantimahle brothers go, half brothers to PC Boys? Weren't they inside SS for a bit?    

And did the injured BDM shoot back to Thornybush behind his brother too? Or is he still in SS?

2 Mantimhale brothers hold territory in KNP so their adventures in Sabi Sands were prolly nothing of value. Especially as I don’t believe they ran into a pride, just the two BDMs who they chased, so prolly didn’t find a reason to stick around. Injured BDM is still in Sabi Sands as far as I know, last heard he was near Nkorho.

Was just thinking about the PCM situation btw, them fully claiming Nkuhuma Pride would be a shame for majority of their other prides, minus the Tsalala pride (I know she’s a lone female but as she had cubs I figure it can be viewed as an established pride now). Been a while since such luck was on her side. As long as the Nkuhumas don’t shift all the way West, there’s quite a bit of territory in Northern parts of Singita she can hold, especially with Ridge Nose now being dead, as the subs may not stick around their old territory. They certainly seem to be doing their own exploring. 

She’d still be relatively close to the PCMs and she’d be holding a territory the PCMs would frequently pass through in order to get to Mhangenis and Ximhungwes.

  • The three Kambula male lions, sleeping at Sussen dam.
  • One Kambula male lion and one lioness, mating South of Susies road.
  • The two Plains Camp male lions and three Nkuhuma lioness, sleeping South of the firebreak Pungwe crossing.
Wednesday, 19 June 2024
  • Two of the Imbali lioness’s, feeding on a warthog East of Jordaan’s dam.
Thursday, 20 June 2024
  • Four Imbali lionesses, one cub and the Kruger male lion stationary at Tripple Pan.

Saturday, 22 June 2024
  • Two Mantimahle male lions mobile South from Big Dam.
  • Two Imbali lioness’s stationary on Huntersmoon Access.

I think, by lack of mention of the sister in the sighting of the Kambulas on 17th that the lioness was mating with one of the males was, in fact, the sister. It could have been an Nkuhuma lioness (seems unlikely), or the Talamati lioness, or even an Imbali lioness. But the sister is definitely a possibility. If so, this is not good.

And as we can see the Mantimahle males are still about.

4 Imbali Breakaways with Kruger male at Buffelshoek (apperantly they had cubs but are prob gone):



With NKs moving further south and Talamati down to only 1 adult female, central and northern portions of North are pretty much empty of prides, so these Imbali females could fill the gap.

Those females should be S8 daughters from 2019 (not sure if all 4, or are some older there aswell).

Nkhulus chased Gijimas out of their territory, altercation took place in MalaMala.
