This was great sighting of Hairy Belly and Othawas, we need to appreciate sightings of HB because every of them onwards might be the last at this point sadly..

Sassy good girl still caring for her kids, also great bonding moment between Junior and HB :

Junior is huge standing next to big HB, i remember sighting about half a year ago and Junior was dwarfed by HB, he grown significantly since, rangers pointed out that too, and he is still not even 3 yrs old:

HB and Ginger did their part, they protected their last offspring and Junior to the independence, i think we all doubted them when they where in rough condition in 2018, but they did it..

Agreed, every sighting we get of hb is a blessing and junior is filling out nicely

And 2 mini Matimbas are not that much smaller from Junior either, already bigger then Sassy..

Idk what it is, but young males sired in Othawa pride are very big and developed early on..

I have big hopes for those guy, they are the only ones that have blood of Mapogos, Majingilanes and Matimbas in them, 3 greatest coalitions in recent history of SS.

Also i got answered by the guy who posted that HB had died, he sad it was missuderstand of Londolozi ranger, who say that HB "passed on", which was said in context that he moved on, and not pass away..

RE: The Matimba coalition - Gijima - 12-15-2020

Gotta give credit to Sassy though, she’s still taking care of these subs and her cousin Junior, and she’s not that much older than him.

Also HBs movements are crazy.... he’s basically zig zagging all through the western sector... How is he even walking that much? What a resilient male...

Mini Gingers are coming into age of sexual growing up, so the state of life in which they grow fastest cus of testosterone. They should be catching up with Junior in the coming year and half or so and possibly outgrown him.

Indeed. I was always saying this and that it together with Matimba bloodline will create some enormous size lion so I was always looking foreward what will grow out of mini Gingers. Also youngsters from Talamati pride are developing very well. Future of Sabi Sands.

Such a shame to see hb like that. I was just looking at pictures of him in his prime earlier today

RE: The Matimba coalition - NCAT33 - 12-17-2020

If HB makes it to the New Year I will be amazed as old age has caught up with him. What a true warrior!

He was been looking much worse 1 or 2 years ago. And against all odds, He has survive. Definitely, And without a doubt, HB it's a very resilient male

I totally agree. He is a warrior and above all A LEGEND!

RE: The Matimba coalition - BigLion39 - 12-18-2020

I'm not a betting man but knowing HB he's definitely got a few more months left at a minimum IMHO! He's one tough SoB!

RE: The Matimba coalition - Potato - 12-18-2020

Acording to Mala Mala rangers HB had the most immpressive mane among all lions seen in the arena. Here he can clearly see how thick it was even in compare to Ginger which had quite long, good looking mane himself.

RE: The Matimba coalition - Musa15 - 12-19-2020

This is reminding me of the last days of Majingilane males looking like HB, I hate to say it. It remains incredible how he's still going, I don't think I've ever seen a better example of a male lion embodying the expression "Heart of a Lion".

Very curious to know how people successfully match such a young cub to an adult male almost 13 years later. Is it by using the whisker pattern or is there some other method?
