Quote:The first three pictures are of large West Coast killer whales, namely CA24, Corkscrew CA60, and Big Trash T125A, all of which are over 8.5 meters. The first one, CA24, may be as big as George, and their dorsal fins are all about 2 meters high. The last picture is of Rainey, George, and Corkscrew.

Photo of the complete skeleton of killer whale ZMAN15757

The skeleton of ZMAN15757 is 8.6 meters long, and its estimated length when alive is about 9.5 meters. It is one of the largest killer whale samples with high reliability. The owner of the skeleton was captured by the Soviet Union in the White Sea on June 3, 1927. The population to which it belongs is now most likely extinct due to human whaling activities. The skeleton sample of ZMAN15757 was collected in the Zoological Museum of St. Petersburg, Russia on June 13, 1927, and is still on display in the museum. The skeletons of blue whales and humpback whales are placed on the left side of the skeleton. It can be seen from the picture that the sample is basically complete except for the missing number of ribs. It can also be clearly seen that the individual has broad jaws and thick pectoral fin bones. It can be imagined that its owner was a strong male whale of predators.
