There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

#Kanha on 70mm, and popularly known in central India as "Road haee Road". Enjoy it full screen. Nothing special about the image, just loved the forest in the background, and the escorted Tiger in the fore.

Uganda Carnivore Program

Fitting a new collar onto a member of Lena's pride.
This young male is the son of Lena and is about the same age as Sankara & Bros. He is likely their "cousin", as we think their mother Bridget is the sister of Lena. Lena and Bridget are almost always found together with their current set of cubs.
For now, we have been referring to him as "The Big Guy" due to his size!

Uganda Carnivore Program

Here are more close up photos of the lion that our Senior Research Assistant James unofficially refers to as, "The Big Guy." The lioness with the collar already on is Bridget. She watched from a nearby thicket while the UCP team fitted him with the collar, took research photos, and checked on his overall health, which included a quick peek at his canines and paws. Lions are also identifiable by their unique whisker spots, which helps researchers. Another photo shows the team carefully moving him away from a dense cluster of thorns so that he wouldn't hurt himself when he woke up. A hard, but rewarding day's work!

@Pckts:

About #51: good surprise ! Do the lions still exist in Uganda ? Perhaps they were reintroduced after the bloody years during which this country was "managed" by Idi Amin Dada.

All cats are from the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda, all cats are native.

The number of people and their misbehaviour even in front of the royal tiger is just upsetting.

For this reason, this thread was created. I propose to post photographs of wild carnivores and humans in this thread.

The thread Apollo started ('Vintage') some time ago in another section is quite similar, but most of the animals over there were photographed after they were shot. The proposal is to post live animals in this thread. All wild carnivores go, but we'd like to see those alive and well when possible.

No captive animals, no circus animals and no trophy animals, ok?
