Inland Taipan: The Inland Taipan or famously known as 'fierce snake', has the most toxic venom in the world. It can yield as much as 110mg in one bite, which is enough to kill around 100 people or over 2.5 lakh mice. The venom consists of taipoxin, a complex mix of neurotoxins, procoagulants, and myotoxins. Its bite paralyzes the muscles and causes hemorrhaging in blood vessels and tissues resulting in muscle damage. It's mostly found in the Australian region.

King cobras have just been recorded at 2400 metres above sea level in Uttarakhand which is easily the highest altitude at which a king cobra has ever been recorded.

I only have one question: HOW?!?! As someone who is afraid of snakes, I always thought at higher altitudes, venomous snakes are not an issue.

@BorneanTiger, the article mentions a few king cobra nests which were discovered at 2400m altitude. That’s why I mentioned it. Whatever the altitude, a cold-blooded animal living above 2000m is just fascinating.

I know the Himalayan pit viper has been recorded at over 5000m but they are not as venomous as other vipers and they only live in the hot springs of himalayas. But, a king cobra at 2400m is ridiculous. They are huge in size for a venomous snake!

West African Gaboon viper, they have the longest fangs of all snakes measuring 5 cm long over the outside curve.

Bejuca (Ocybelis aeneus) in Caracas, Venezuela. It has a very mild venom that normally does not cause any damage to humans
