the northern matimba now has a partner so any hope of a reunion of the three matimbas is likely dead. The matimba might recognize HB and Ginger but the Rockfig male will see them as a threat. it can get messy if they come across each other.

RE: the Matimba coalition - LionKiss - 05-01-2017

no, the other male will follow the stance of his partner (northern matimba).
if they ever met I don't expect them to see any serious fight but they could not stay together due to other reasons

I don't think he is gonna let the northern matimba dictate things(specially if the rockfig male is more dominant), they will act as a coalition and two coalitions of two males each merging is unheard of. There is nothing to fight over so a serious fight is unlikely, but a reunion is completely out of the picture. Stranger things have happened so who knows.

RE: the Matimba coalition - Fredymrt - 05-05-2017

update from Imbali Safari Lodge: Just a follow up to all who are enquiring about the "new"males who were seen on concession. unfortunately they seem to have moved back to Manyeleti area since our last post of the Matimbas.

The two males back on concession are the Miuwati Males(no matimbas) who have been around since late 2015 Blondie and Madala

RE: the Matimba coalition - Lionpower - 05-07-2017

The 2 southern matimbas are back in londolozi! Interesting times ahead...I'm glad they're back. Now we'll get a lot more news on them..

"The two Matimba Males have been conspicuous by their absence over the last few months as reports of them much further to our north surfaced. However, there have been recent developments in the last week which has seen the lighter maned Matimba Male returning to Londolozi in this last week with reports of the darker maned Matimba being not too far away as well."

Do you think the matshiphri males are in trouble now that the matimbas are back in lodolozi?

No. Matimbas are too old to get physical with coalitions in their prime.

No. Matimbas are too old to get physical with coalitions in their prime.

But you have to understand that the matimbas are stronger and bigger than the matshiphri males

RE: the Matimba coalition - Chris - 05-11-2017

Is there any news on the matimbas?

RE: the Matimba coalition - sik94 - 05-11-2017

They are not that much bigger and even the matimbas know they will be at the losing-end of any physical altercations with younger males. That's why they fled in the first place, first from djuma because the matimbas wanted to avoid the birminghams and then from londolozi to avoid the matshpiris.

An intimidating stare from one of the Matimba males. We have recently seen the return of one of this coalition, fathers of the Tsalala pride’s cubs. Hopefully it can bring some stability to the pride as they’ve been quite nomadic of late, trying to avoid various coalitions of other males that could threaten to the cubs survival.

Is there any new reports on the matimbas?
