In that picture at the bottom, I think he looked more like Dark Mane, so maybe he was his litter mate? Yea, he was the most developed of them at that time.. I also think he is either littermate of DM and HS, or that those 3 are sired by the same male.. 5th before the fight : Photo Credit : Catherine Sumner *This image is copyright of its original author *This image is copyright of its original author Also, he is very similar to potential fathers of Majingilane, One Eye Robson male : *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: History's most brutal killers, the Majingilane Male Lions - Hairy tummy - 05-12-2021 Great photos. Got me thinking, so many what ifs in the lion world. Imagine if mr t and kt never got him that day, how different both their futures could have been RE: History's most brutal killers, the Majingilane Male Lions - Nate121 - 05-12-2021 Do you guys think that if the 5th did stay alive the coalition would have split into two groups like most bigger coalitions? Hmm one can only speculate. Prob yes, they would prob try to conquer more territory earlier as 5, but its hard to say in which direction they would move.. RE: History's most brutal killers, the Majingilane Male Lions - lionuk - 09-12-2021 RE: History's most brutal killers, the Majingilane Male Lions - Leo Aslan - 09-29-2021 In the area of Kirkman's Kamp the tensions between the young Tsalala / Marthly and Avoca male coalition increased. The resident Tsalala pride made a Buffalo kill but the Lionesses and cubs were pushed away from the kill by their own 3 sons. Suddenly an unexpected intruder wanted also the big meal and started feeding on the prey. It was one of the Avoca males. The Skirmish started between the young males. These sounds were heard over the sandbank of the river. Scar Nose Majingilane appears on the scene and now the young males were in panic and fled. A few weeks later the three Tsalala young males were devouring a recent buffalo kill, when the brazen Avoca coalition decided to get in on the action. Ranger Geoffrey Haslam managed to film two clips of the five lions surrounding the carcass. The Avocas were successful this time and the Tsalalas left the kill. In October 2017 a battle broke out between the three young Tsalala males and the young Avoca males as they fought over the recent buffalo kill the Avoca males had made. This time the Majingi sons were much more aggressive and they chased the Avocas away. It went back and forth for months and a clear winner could not emerge. The Tsalala\Marthly Young males were a coalition of 3 male lions and they were born in August 2013. They were fathered by the Majingilane Males. In Mala mala the Tsalala pride is called Marthly pride and these young males are called Young Marthly males. Nhlanguleni was still breathing after his fight with Makulu, but let's not pretend the Mapogos used their numbers to win in this occasion. Makulu lost his canine on Nhlanguleni's face and won the fight decisively! Nhlanguleni left the field in very bad shape, he was limping badly and had an horrendous wound on his face where the Mapogo's canine was still hanging, he was done for, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more clean 1v1 win among two adult lions. Makulu left his brothers and went to take Nhlanguleni's out by himself despite there's been no need in taking such a risk, it was an incredible feat. Nhlanguleni was seen a few days later with the horrible wound on his face just a little bit better and then he disappeared. Not only that, but besides this Makulu fight, Mapogos have more fights (where they won) with either equal numbers or while outnumbered. The Mlowathi beat the Manyeleti 2v2, killing one (died from his wounds) and also beat the 3 Toulon Males despite being outnumbered. The old Mapogos beat the Selatis in the first fight when they were 1v4 PB. Makulu and Mr.T saved him in the last minute, it's technically a 3v4 but if we can be honest, it's truly a 2v4 since PB was about to be finished and was left with terrible wounds from when he was fighting all 4 of them. And of course, these are the ones where we have the full details, but there's also other fights where we lack some details but the mainstream version/what the rangers say is that the 3 old Mapogos fought off 3-4 Matimbas, and that KNP Limper died from wounds inflicted by Makulu. I also could mention their pre-territorial era when Makulu with the young Rasta, and PB fought 4 young males for a carcass, which we know for sure the 4 males were injured, while the Mapogos, as the ranger said "probably got some wounds as well". So if anything, the Mapogos are known to fight multiple "fair fights" or against the odds when being outnumbered, and they won plenty! Not denying, of course, that they also crushed other enemies with their numbers. While regarding the Majins, it's indeed true that they don't have a single physical confrontation while having either equal numbers or while being outnumbered. However, I want to make this very clear: that doesn't mean anything when we talk about lions, it's no demerit at all. Fighting or winning "fair fights" will look cooler (from human perspective) for most people than winning 4v1s, but for lions, that doesn't matter, they don't have human mentality, they don't think of themselves as MMA fighters or have any concept of honor and glory, lions try to survive and spread their genes, and that the Majins did amazingly, they controlled a vast territory for a long time and had many cubs, they were very smart and were able to defeat other coalitions by picking their fights and staying together, no one can rightfully call them cowards (or any other lion as matter of fact, their lives are brutal). So while from a human perspective, some might enjoy another coalition more for having "cooler fights" or something similar, there's no demerit for the Majins or any other coalition if they never got into 1v1s, 2v2s, 2v3s, etc. And anyone badmouthing them for that is not making sense, if anything, it's very interesting how the Majins were so efficient in their long history of confrontation with other lions. |
