Birmingham Breakaways are still split, 3 younger ones still hang together on their own:

they were all six together just last week....its strange how they keep separating.   we may see a similar split like the Kambulas....older boys going one way and younger one another.

Yep, like Kambulas and BDM's.

RE: Birmingham Pride of lions - Duco Ndona - 05-09-2023

Its not that odd if the age gap is to large.

The young ones still want to play and hide away at the first sign of other lions nearby. The older ones seek out lionesses and confront rivals.
The younger lions feel the older lions are stealing their food. The older ones feel the younger ones are holding them back and not contributing enough.
The young ones want to stay close to their natal pride. Still not willing to come to terms with the idea that mommy and daddy kicked them out. While the older ones want to leave and strike it out on their own.

Here is a link from Shindzela sighting of Birmingham Breakaway pride and cubs from June 2018:

These cubs are couple of months old and born around early 2018.

I assume this are the first litters in which 3 older boys (Kovu, Ilannga, Madzinyo) should be born.

Illannga (amber eyes male) ? :

These guys are definetly sired by Avoca/Giraffes, who where still with the pride in early 2018.

I would say 5 of the 6 Birmingham breakaway males looks very similar to the same as Ross males looked like at their stage of their lifes. There shot of one of the oldest 2 Birmingham breakaway males who look bassically copy-paste Fabio Ross:

Im trying to do some research to solve this mystery.

In 2017 -2018 Ross males where territorial around Shindzela and Avoca pride.

East of them in Ngala are Avoca/Giraffes, problem is we have little info from that area and we dont know when exactly Ross males started expanding into Ngala, obiviously around mid 2018 they definetly did as cubs in Birmigham pride where born towards late 2018. Sightings of Ross males with Birminghams start after mid 2018.

I m not sure if breakaway already existed at that time, or it was formed when Ross males came.

But then we have sighting of Avoca/Giraffes with Birminghams in very late 2017/ very early 2018 i believe.

But, now i find sighting of Ross male mating with Birmingham female from November 2017 :

This might imply that Ross males are actually fathers of these cubs.

Now, when i look at photos of young Ross males, these young Breakaways are similar to them in face structure indeed.

So im not sure anymore, it might be pausible that both coalitions mated with them, in late 2017.

@Potato  i think you could be right, they do resemble Ross males:

2 cubs in liter only?

RE: Birmingham Pride of lions - Mapokser - 05-12-2023

A shame it'it's not a big litter but I hope at least the 2 of them can make it.

Mbiris had killed a white lioness in the past, now they have made a white lion to make up for that lol.

Im happy to finally see our 4th white lion, it wouldve been 5 had the white cub sired by Trichardts survived.

RE: Birmingham Pride of lions - Mabingilane - 05-14-2023

Hi guys, hope you are all doing well.

Does anybody know if Osindile's sister still has her 1 surviving cub which was born late last year? She had 4 cubs but 3 died. Just wondering if the last cub survived?
