Based on a date, you conclude he's HB himself? Regardless, HB looked a bit different around 2015, you can see the eye color is still darker and he's looking older than this lion.

Right picture is also from 2015, but taken after the left photo based of scars, who faded but are still visiable if you zoom in and compare,also check whisker spots..

They have 10 sub adults of over 2 years old sired in Myambula pride. Those guys are yet too young to already have adult offspring.

Not sure what's going on in that area but I think Nsemani's have shifted south and it seems the Leeubron's have also moved a bit south. The Nsemani's controlled a pride for some time and may have just abandoned them in search of new prides.
