Were the matimba coalition males as big as the current mantimahle lions?

The mantimahles might be a little taller but matimbas were probably bulkier lions.

It is rather impossible to judge.

Beautiful Beast.

People tend to belive that he was side kick to HB but thats not the case, actually in many cases we can see Ginger leading the way (fighting Fourways, chasing Styxs..).

I looked it like that Ginger was the brain and HB was the muscles in the coalition.

To me it was the other way around. More often than not, HB was the one leading(chasing matshpiri's and majingalanes), against the forways both were there and mauled the one forway that died later on. Ginger truly pulled his weight though and carried the coalition from around the time they became nomadic until he got mange. HB wasn't in a condition to survive but ginger took care of him until they took over the west.

RE: The Matimba coalition - Potato - 02-16-2020

Actually up untill confrontation with N Avocas Hairy Belly was the one at better condition.

RE: The Matimba coalition - Matimbalani - 02-16-2020

Ginger was limping badly and could hardly move when they ran into Northern Avocas. By taking on the Northern Avocas by himself HB bought them enough time. They were great partners, but I think their reign would have been longer and more fecund if all five Matimbas had managed to stay together. The three or four years that HB and Ginger spent in Sabi Sands was basically a waste as none of their cubs survived. I am hopeful that the last batch with Othawas would make it.

RE: The Matimba coalition - Potato - 02-16-2020

They have carried their Nkuhuma cubs to adulthood and I think Torchwood as well.

RE: The Matimba coalition - Matimbalani - 02-17-2020

I should say the past three or four years. Past the B-Boys take over, I don't think they have any surviving cubs except from the latest one's with the Othawas.
