Look what I just found.

Jaguar and Leopard ''together'' interactions in some captivity in Japan.

In the video it appears to be a young Jaguar and an adult Leopard.

This is the first time that I see a long video with these two cats together. Its so rare.

Hello everyone, wasn’t there some account of a tigress killing a male tiger while she was protecting her cubs? I can’t remember where I read that.

Valmik Thapar is one person who tells about such incident in his book:  Land of the Tiger: A Natural History of the Indian Subcontinent.

Quote from it:
"However I do know that a tigress once killed an adult male to protect her cubs. The male, who might have been an aggressive transient, was gnawed open and a chunk of his rump eaten."

Chapter: The tiger´s domain and page 261.

Thanks @Rage2277 and @Shadow
Yes I just had someone asking me if that had happend and  I just rememberd hearing it somewhere. It sounds very unrealiatic, but I guess it can be a 1 in 1000 incident. And the male got unlucky. Probably a younger male.

idk i can't see that happening in the wild a tigress can def kill a sub male bout a year old but a 2.5 and up not likely at least not when on guard @Pantherinae  @Shadow

I´m in things like this quite down to earth. If in some situation a tigress can be furious and put "all in", it´s when protecting cubs, this can be seen with almost all other species too. I don´t see anything too special in it, that in some occasions male tiger can be surprised in such situation and even get killed. Not often, there aren´t that many possible cases. But Thapar doesn´t seem to be only person mentioning, that tigresses can protect cubs fiercely. And in this case he writes about adult male, not subadult. Thapar is alive and well, maybe he can be emailed or something if interested to find out more.

And since it looks like Thapar isn´t only person mentioning this kind of behavior, if there is interest to know more it shouldn´t be impossible to find out if there are more cases and what kind of outcomes.
