RE: Lions of Timbavati - Tonpa - 08-08-2021

Is there two river prides by the way? One ruled by the Nharu males (until this week) and the other by Hosi and Sacha?

RE: Lions of Timbavati - Cunaguaro - 08-08-2021

Shaka, a mighty king and force in the prime of his life.
I think Shaka is currently the tallest lion in the timbavati. If he had a long mane, he would look more impressive, even more impressive than his coalition partner Scar.

Scar, a truly magnificent specimen of a beast was patrolling through Orpen camp and was heading towards Shaka.

Yes, the one ruled so far by Nharhu males is settled around Tanda Tula camp Timbavati while the one ruled by the Hosi and Socha is settled around Klaserie Drift camp.

RE: Lions of Timbavati - Tonpa - 08-08-2021

It continues...

"It’s been a couple days since the death of the last fit and healthy Nharhu male, Xitaya, with the Skorro males having since made their intentions clear: this was no fluke, they are hear to make a statement.

The last couple of nights have been played out as a chess game. The Riverpride females driven by absolute fear for losing their cubs have made big, strategic moves to try and evade the onslaught of the intruders. These plays have seen the females push their fursthest western boundaries where lion pressure is at a low, whilst the skorro males try play catch-up. This morning, after a night of vivid dreams which strangely or rather coincidentally all included lions, I woke up to more devastating news… In a decisive move, the skorro males intercepted the Riverpride and made contact. The eerie-nights silence was shattered by the growls and roars of the three females as they fought with all their heart and might to protect the cubs and the Nharhu males legacy. After an intense couple of minutes, the night fell back into its dark abyss and only morning would bring the knowledge as to what extent this clash would have on the future of our pride.

I can confirm that one of the remaining females has been severely injured (fatally? Too soon to tell.) Whilst the other two moms managed to escape unscathed, are fleeing north with their cubs who miraculously survived what undoubtedly would’ve been the longest night of their lives. As the Riverpride seek asylum in territories beyond their pride boundaries, the future of our beloved Lions hangs in the balance."

So they kinda ran towards the spot where they were settled before Nharhu males took over (by that time Myambula pride was settled around Tanda Tula camp while River pride was a bit further north, north-west). That opens spece for Myambula pride to return to Tanda Tula for good. Skorro males btw are now in great spot with plenty of females all around them. There are Myambula and Sark breakaway pride up for grabs, River pride if Skorros will mange to kill the Nharhu's cubs and later on also younger Myambula females sired by Mbiris + 2 newjoined. Skorro males could for sure build up great legacy there.

In theory yes, but you never know in lions world, few months ago Nharhus where strongest force in Timbavati and look it now, things can change very fast and unexpected..

1. Sure anythink can happen, but with that take over Skorro males showed themselfs as true powerhouses and they should be up for challange if such show up. They are also in their prime and still will be for quite long time to come.
2. It doesn't seems Skorro males will have much if any competition. Hercules/Sumatra could potentially contest them, but so far they did not show any willing in expanding in that dirrection. Same goes to Vuela males. It is very unlikely Mbiri males will make their way north. Somethink always can pop up from east, from Kruger, but from that direction no competions showed up so far as well.

They dont have competition rn, but in a year or so there is so many young male coalitions who will be running around in search for territory ( 7 Birmingham breakeaway young males, 3/4 Birmingham young males, 6 Myambula young males and we still dont know where 3 Monwana young males and 6 BDM young males will end up..)

Also it doesnt have to be other males, disease, failed hunt and situation gets grim..

In the end, it all comes down to luck pretty much.

RE: Lions of Timbavati - T I N O - 08-08-2021

In fact, The Skorro males are very nomadic although they are now the only strong coalition in the central to northern timbavati! Only time will tell for how long
I guess they haven't a big challenge yet, as most likely Xitaya has fought on his own.

Myambulas are 7 btw as far as I know.

There are terrytorial for around a year already and dominant over Western pride. Now also took posesion over big arena around Tanda Tula. Moreover soon they might add as much as 3 more prides into their possesion (including Myambulas which with subadult females 9 females strong so soon potentially a mega pride) so Skorros are by no mean nomadic. Moreover they will indeed have as much as 4 prides that would be incredibly impressive achivment for a duo.

That is their doing that they stick together and the Nharhu's doing that they were separated and the Skorro's doing that they perfectly exploited Nharhu's weakness. Very often clashes of the coalition comes to such actions is it is usseles saying like MAjingilanes ousted Salatis just because they found single Salati on his own or similarly Matshapiris tookover from Matimbas only because they cought Matimbas separated. Skorros took on Nharhus while Nharhus were coalition of 2 and deserve all credit for victory over coalition of 2.
