http://www.indianaturewatch.net/displayimage.php?id=8459 RE: Tiger Predation - Pckts - 07-19-2014 just like a lion pride. tfs RE: Tiger Predation - Apollo - 07-20-2014 *This image is copyright of its original author Scouring the east bank of Rajbagh lake in Ranthambhore, we hear the nicest sound one can possible imagine under the circumstances – a sambar alarm call. It was sunrise on a chilly January morning and even the Painted storks in the lake stood like icicles, too frozen to move. The lake looked golden with a soft mist of condensation rising towards the sky – like a giant cup of freshly brewed coffee. We were beginning to hear sounds of a struggle in the sun-dappled cluster of Dhonk trees to our right. We rushed towards the sounds, and so did a bevy of other jeeps, each jockeying to outmaneuver the other. As we closed in, we were greeted by the the magnificent sight of T19 ( Krishna ) dragging a freshly killed Chital doe . This scene reminded me of a Broadway play. A beautifully designed stage covered in purple lichen undergrowth, almost like a rich velvet curtain with sunlight arching through and piercing the trees, spotlighting the performer(s), all set to the music of the bird life on the water. What a spectacle! *This image is copyright of its original author It was obvious to me that T19 was going to drag her kill across the jungle track and into the clumps of dry grass alongside the lake. Luckily for me, the jeep-herd thought so too and raced ahead trying to anticipate where she would cross, leaving me alone to capture this scene with a 500mm lens, in its entirety. Though I did follow the jeeps eventually and got some close ups ( above ), the first image is the one I was the happiest with. http://abhinavdhar.wordpress.com/2014/06/21/t19-on-broadway/ RE: Tiger Predation - Apollo - 07-20-2014 Latest video of Waghdoh male mating on June 22 2014 RE: Tiger Predation - sanjay - 07-20-2014 Great Video. The elephant calf was around six months old, Range Forest Officer Devaraj said. The incident that may have occurred two to three days ago, came to light on Thursday. It was reported 200 meters away from the anti-poaching camp in Matlakatte Forest. The killer tiger has also eaten most part of the carcass. The incident was brought to the notice of Forest Conservator Vijayranjan Singh before being buried. http://www.deccanherald.com/content/253621/tiger-found-dead.html RE: Tiger Predation - Pckts - 07-22-2014 On the same article as the baby elephant predationTiger found deadGundlupet/Hunsur, May 31 2012, DHNS:An eight-year-old tiger was found dead at Kalkere Forest Range in Bandipur National Park on Thursday. The carcass was spotted when locals informed the Forest department staff about foul smell emanating near the stream in Mulehole forest area. The tiger had sustained minor injuries on its head. Veterinary doctor Dr Nagaraju has taken the carcass for post mortem. Kumar Pushkar, Forest Conservator and Director of Bandipur National Park, and Paramesh, Forest Officer of Kalkare Forest Range arrived at the spot for inspection. “The head injuries may be due to a tussle with another tiger. The tiger may not have consumed food and died four days ago due to weakness and pain. The details will be known after obtaining the post mortem report,” Pushkar said. Not predation though. Can be moved if you guys like? RE: Tiger Predation - Apollo - 07-27-2014 Tiger Cub Approching The Kill This was in Tadoba. This Tiger Cub was very cautiously walking towards the kill made by its mother. It was around 6.30pm. This is a huge gaur killed by the tigeress and the tigeress was just behind the bush, behind the gaur.. The back side of the gaur was eaten up by this family of three cubs and the tigeress. The other two cubs were on the right side behind dense bamboo plants, hence were hardly visible. This gaur was actually blocking the whole road, the tigeress pulled it behind the bush within fraction of a second. One can experience the power of this magnificent species... Wanted to wait and watch for longer time, but had to leave as the timing of the park was not permitting us. Was a great experience. Thanks to Mahesh Mahajan and the forest guide for this. *This image is copyright of its original author RE: Tiger Predation - Apollo - 07-27-2014 Amur tiger taking down an elk RE: Tiger Predation - GuateGojira - 07-27-2014 This is a great video, after all, Amur tigers hunting in video are much more rare than the Bengals, and this is to say a lot.
